To Glenn and the family of Jeanene Schallom,
We are very sorry to hear of the loss of your mother. You are never really fully prepared for that inevitable occasion and no words seem an adequate defense against the pain it causes, but I hope these provide some measure of comfort as they did for me:
Do not stand at my grave and weep.
I am not there; I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow,
I am the quiet morning's hush,
I am the comforting evening gust.
I am the gentle autumn rain.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain,
I am the quiet birds in circling flight,
I am the soft starlight that shines at night,
Do not stand at my grave and cry.
I am not there; I did not die.
