Thank you for allowing me
the opportunity
to learn from you
when I was seeking so much knowledge
when I was asking many questions
you patiently listened and answered accordingly
never showing signs of frustration

Thank you for taking the time
to show me the necessary skills over the years
that will lead me with confidence into tomorrow
for believing in me and having enough faith
to share your work
your dreams
and your vision

Thank you for accepting me as I am
with all my eagerness
and my sheer joy over the little things...
you never tried to squelch that spirit in me
Instead, you have encouraged that spirit
and for that, I do thank you

I realized the knowledge I need for work can be learned anywhere,
taught by most anyone
but the life skills I needed that go along with it...
well, that would have to be taught by a very unique individual
with a very special gift for giving
a gift of patience and understanding
that someone is you, my Mentor
and now, my friend

Assistant Chief Brust a true and special friend THANK YOU….

With a special place in my Heart. Gil

John was such a great father in-law, he was always there when we needed him yet he never passed judgment or took sides during times of trouble, he could make you laugh in an instant and always had that wit about him, Joyce and family if there is anything you need now or in the future dont hesitate to ask, I will be thinking and praying for you all

Kaelynn always asked me, "Mommy, why is that man so mean to you?" My reply always was, "That man is not mean to me, he loves me." She would always laugh about it, and ya know so did I. I will always remember being this bratty little girl running around the Fire House, who stole your heart. John, you were more than a friend to me, you were a second Dad, I will miss you so much.

Joyce, Jimmy, Jeff, and Terry, thank you for shareing John with all of us. You are all in our thoughts and prayers.

May you find comfort in knowing that John touched the lives of so many others and gave them the gift of many memories. John will always live on in our hearts.

Mrs. Joyce Brust and the entire family and friends of our Dear Friend John Brust,

Rita and I are deeply saddened to learn of the loss of our friend.
God's promise. Paul says, "Keep up your courage, men, for I have faith in God that it will happen just as He told me." Does God keep His promises? Without fail. Some of you are going through devastating crises right now. Your problems are overwhelming, and you think you're going under for the last time. Let me say this from God to you: You may lose the cargo. You may lose the tackle of the ship. You may lose the ship. You may even get wet, but you're going to make it, because of the promise of God.

How do I tell you the way John affected my life??? There are not words to explain the man he really was. He was a friend, he was an adviser, a little bit of a father figure, he was anything you needed at the time, but mostly he was just John....I think now of him, and smile, he could pull the best stuff off and make you think he was serious....I will always have fond memories. The angels in Heaven are rejoicing because he now sits with them....Joyce and the rest of the family, the only thing that I can say, is that one day God's plan is that you will see him again. I pray that you know the plan Jesus Christ has and that gives you comfort at this time....in my prayers...all of you.....Love you Joyce, sorry I can't be there, but I can't drive anymore, trying to get someone to bring me to Valley Park is a joke......
