Bro. Louis W. Pinckert S.M.

Pinckert S.M., Bro. Louis W. Marianist Bro. Louis W. Pinckert, 87, passed peacefully to eternal life on July 26, 2012, at the Marianist Residence at St. Mary's University, San Antonio. Born in St. Louis on Oct. 8, 1924, to Carl and Beatrice (Neary) Pinckert, Bro. Louis was educated by the Marianists at Chaminade College Preparatory in St. Louis, graduating as salutatorian of his class in 1942. He professed first vows with the Society of Mary on Aug. 15, 1943. After earning a bachelor's degree in education at the University of Dayton in 1945, Bro. Louis began teaching at Central Catholic High School in San Antonio. One year later he returned to St. Louis to teach at McBride and St. Mary's High Schools before being assigned to St. Joseph High School in Victoria, Texas, in 1948. Bro. Louis professed perpetual vows in the Society of Mary in July 1952. For the next five years he ran the Marianist print shop at the old Maryhurst on the grounds of Vianney High School. From 1958 - 1961 he served as the head groundskeeper at St. Mary's University, then returned to Chaminade College Prep as a teacher, athletic director and assistant in the physical plant. In 1969 Bro. Louis began a long career as a community business manager in St. Louis and Toronto, Canada. After serving the Marianist Seminary in Toronto for thirteen years, he returned to St. Louis in 1994 and lived at Chaminade College Prep. In 2009 Bro. Louis moved to the Marianist Residence in San Antonio. He was an avid photographer and had a great interest in computers. Bro. Louis is survived by a sister, Ann Marie Wilkerson of St. Louis; nieces Kathleen Price of Chicago and Elizabeth Kayloun of Milburn, N.J.; and his religious brothers of the Society of Mary. Services: Visitation will be held from 9 - 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 1 at Our Lady of the Pillar, 401 S. Lindbergh Blvd., followed by the Mass of Christian Burial. Interment following the funeral liturgy at the Maryhurst Marianist Cemetery on the grounds of Vianney High School. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Bro. Louis W. Pinckert, S.M.
