Austin, Lyle E. Born March 9, 1925, passed away on Monday, February 11, 2013, lived courageously and died courageously. Loving husband of the late Ruby Austin (nee Schieszer) and Laverne Austin (nee Myers); most beloved and awesome father of Pam (Jim) Russo and Kim (Bill) Brennell; wonderful grandfather to Ryan and Kacie Brennell; dear brother of Betty Woodward and the late Keith Austin and Gale Austin; dear brother-in-law of Robert Franke and the late Ruth Franke; dear uncle of Debbie (Paul Addotta) Franke, Sandy Oldfield, Larry (Diane) and Bruce Woodward and Robyn Machnicki, Paula and Ralph (Sheri) Austin; dear cousin to the Hudgens family and friend to all he met. Lyle served proudly in the Army 91st Infantry of WWII and earned three Bronze Battle Stars. He owned and operated Austin's Barber Shop in south St. Louis for 40 years which eventually became Austin's Bar. He was a 50+ year Mason and Shriner (Moolah Mounted Lancers), Scottish Rite, American Legion and VFW Post #3500. He enjoyed spending time with his family, telling amusing stories and lived life to its fullest. He will be forever missed and held close to our hearts. Services: A celebration of his life will be at KUTIS AFFTON CHAPEL, 10151 Gravois Monday, February 18, 3-6 pm with Masonic Service at 6 pm. Memorial service at 6:30 pm. Military burial at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery Tuesday, February 19, 11 am/Procession from Kutis at 10:30am. Memorial contributions to St. Lucas UCC Building Fund, 11735 Denny Rd, 63126, greatly appreciated.
