To the Klos family,
I was very saddened to hear the news about Rick. I was his hairstylist for almost 6 years and he was a very loyal client/friend. I had the honor of taking care of this wonderful man. Even though I never had the chance to meet his family, he would always talk to me about his wonderful wife and kids. He will be greatly missed. May you all find peace. My thoughts & prayers are with your family.

I, like everyone, who was fortunate enough to count Rick as a friend, was very saddened to hear the news of his death. Rick was a loving husband, proud father, and devoted son. My heart goes out to Kathy, Lindsay,Richard and Helen.

My friendship with Rick began in August of 1977. It was my first semester at Mizzou. Rick and I had dorm rooms across the hall from one another. I didn't know anyone in the dorm at that time. But Rick was quick to befriend me. Like many of Rick's friends, we shared a keen interest in the baseball Cardinals, anything pertaining to Mizzou sports, and of course The Three Stooges. For years, we would retell the same old Stooges jokes and laugh our behinds off. I remember watching the Stooges late at night on channel 11 with Rick when he was living with his cousin Joe. Rick had told me for years how much fun the annual uncles fisching trip was at Bennett Springs. He asked me to go several times. I finally went and he was right. It was a great time!

I also remember meeting Rick's mother, Helen, over 30 years ago when she was living in Shewsberry. What a nice lady.
It was easy to see how Rick got his ability to get along with everyone he met. I even remember the fact that his dog at the time had a red bandana tied around it's neck.

After I moved to Iowa City in 1985, I wasn't able to hangout with Rick and the rest of the gang from Mizzou as much as I would have liked.

But Rick and I talked over the phone when we could and after he got married and had his children, it was really apparent in our talks as to how happy he was to have a loving wife and two great kids. He would keep me updated as to how good Lindsay was in sports and how much Richard enjoyed the performing arts.

So Rick, I know you are now watching over Kathy, Lindsay, Richard, and your mom. I know you are watching over the rest of us as well.

I thank you for your friendship! Hope to see you someday on the otherside.

Kathy, Lindsay, Richard, and Helen,

Words can not express the sympathy extended to you by Rick's passing. What a wonderful person, I will never forget his wry sense of humor - even these past few months and his warm even nature. He was a great son, husband, father, and a loyal friend. The world lost a very special man this week. I will keep your family in my prayers.

Love,

My family's prayers are with you and your family Rick. Rick Klos was a great, sweet guy who would hit you hard on the football field and be your best friend off the field. He was a High School All-American football player and never acted like he was better than the people around him. He was not the "Johnny Come Lately" type of personality; no matter how many years had gone by without talking, he was always a sure friend ready to pick up where we last left each others company. Rick Klos was a great father and husband; he loved his family tremendously and spent his time with them accordingly. I have many fond memories of playing sports, fishing and having fun with Rick that I will never forget. Thanks for being such a real gentleman and wonderful friend, Rick! The memories will last forever!

I first met Rick on the softball diamonds in Brentwood. We both lived in Brentwood Forest and some nights we were on the same team and other nights we played against each other. I knew if the ball was hit to Rick he would know what to do with it and had a gun for an arm. Rick was one of the nicest guys I had the good fortune to meet during those years. Always polite and never complained, we remained friends and he also became a client and we ended up neighbors again, living only a few houses apart. He will be remembered and missed as just a terrific guy with great character, empathy and love for his family.

Kathy, Rick may have loved sports, but you and the kids were his life. Hardly a conversation went by without him mentioning one or all of you. Rick and I became acquainted when I was looking for a job in IT many years ago. We became more than aquaintances when we found out that he knew my Dad (Jerry the Cop)when he went to Lindbergh High School. That created a unique bond that I treasure to this day. We could spend an entire lunch talking about his antics as a kid. Rick is a good, kind and understanding man and a huge hole will be left in the lives of many. But remember: We grieve for those who remain behind, not for the one who has gone to be with God. I hope peace and tranquility come to you and your family very soon.
