Skrainka, Robert Louis Died peacefully on Saturday, January 12, 2013, at age 82. Son of the late Walter J. and Louise (nee Goodman) Skrainka. Robert is survived and much beloved by his brother and sister-inlaw, Stephen (Linda) Skrainka; his nephew and nieces, Benjamin, Sarah, and Kate (Eric Stradal) Skrainka; and his step-son, Rick (Elisa) Recht and step-grandsons, Kobi and Tal. He was preceded in death by his wife, Hannah Recht. Robert was a poet, photographer, English teacher, and Grinnell College varsity tennis player who traveled extensively before Parkinson's overtook him. Possessed of three master's degrees (MBA, MAT, MA), he threatened to write a book called Getting the Third Degree. He was generous, warmhearted, and mischievous with a subtle, dry sense of humor; an activist primarily in the causes of conservation and peace. He especially loved children, animals, Grinnell College, jazz, the STL Symphony, University City (MO), and Robert Frost. He was cared for lovingly during the last nine years by the extraordinary staff of Delmar Gardens Creve Coeur and for four years by Leslie Harris. He will be greatly missed by his family, many cousins and loyal friends. Services: 2:00pm, Sun. Feb. 3, Central Reform Congregation, 5020 Waterman Blvd., St. Louis, 63108.
