Sylvester J. "Syl" Liss

Liss, Sylvester J. Syl baptized into the hope of Christ's resurrection, Friday, April 2, 2010. Beloved husband of Rose Liss (nee Phillips) for 67 years; dear father of Sylvia (Ralph) Sloan, Barbara (Jim) Kick, Nancy (Gary) Porterfield, Joe (Joan) Liss & Peggy (Rich) Kraus; Loving grandfather of Mark & Pam Sloan, Laurie (Brian) Tournier (nee Kick), Elizabeth (Joe) Harszy (nee Kick), Kim (Ryan) Geraghty (nee Kick), Jeff & Doug Porterfield, Stephanie (Dave) Collet (nee Liss), Jill & Jessica Liss, Dan (Marissa) Kraus (nee Noel), Bob & Jennifer Kraus; Dear Great grandfather of James & Donovan Geraghty, Lily, Stuart & Sylvester Tournier, Andrew & Austin Harszy and Amelia & Harrison Kraus; brother-in-law of Charles and Lawrence Phillips; brother, brother-in-law, uncle, cousin and friend to so many. Sylvester served in the Army Air Corps during WWII where he was an airplane mechanic. Sylvester then went on to work at Anheuser-Busch where he worked as a Beer Brewer until his retirement 37 years later. Not quite finished with his working career, he gained employment at CAPS, Inc. He worked there for 28 years in production support and finally retired this past December. Sylvester was also a member of the Brewers and Maltsters, Local #6 and the American Legion. Services: Funeral from the SCHRADER Funeral Home and Crematory, 14960 Manchester Road at Holloway, Ballwin, Tuesday, 10:45 a.m. to Holy Infant Catholic Church, Ballwin for 11:00 a.m. Mass. Interment Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery. If desired, contributions may be made to a charity of your choice.
