Rosemary Ward Wellington Obituary
Wellington, Rosemary Ward of Webster Groves, MO Fortified with the Sacraments of Holy Mother Church on Sunday, July 14, 2013. Loving wife of the late Harry A. Bud Wellington Jr.; loving mother of Kathy (Kevin) Boles, Nance (Steve) Schranck, Mick (Peggy) Wellington, Thom (Debbie) Wellington; beloved grandmother of Michael Wellington, Kevin (Laura) Wellington, Amy (John) Kretchmar, Shannon Boles, Sean Boles, Trisha Schranck, Blake Wellington, Chase Wellington, and Parker Wellington; beloved greatgrandmother of Charlotte Rose Kretchmar. Rosemary was a graduate of St. Joseph's Academy Class of '37, Fontbonne University Class of '42, and a member of Mary Queen of Peace Catholic parish since 1953. She received the Globe Democrat Outstanding Female Athlete Award in 1941 while attending Fontbonne University. She served as the Athletic Director of the St. Louis Chapter of YWHA and was the past Athletic Director and a teacher at St. Joseph's Academy (1953-1989). She was the recipient of the St. Joseph's Academy Outstanding Alumni Award and in 1999, was inducted into the Fontbonne University Athletic Hall of Fame. She was a chair of the St. Joseph's Academy Horse Show. Rosemary was President of Delta Gamma Delta. She served as a member of the Board of the Midwest U.S. Field Hockey Association and many committees of the Missouri State High School Athletic Association. She was also a recipient of the President's Physical Fitness Award under President George H. Bush. In 2010, St. Joseph's Academy dedicated the Rosemary Ward Wellington Athletic Complex. She served as a volunteer at Cardinal Glennon Children's Hospital and Harris Home for the Special Olympics. The family would like to thank all of her care givers at Brooking Park and the Heartland Hospice Team. Services: A memorial mass will be offered at 10 a.m. Saturday July 27, 2013 at Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 676 W. Lockwood Ave., Webster Groves. Private burial in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery. If desired, contributions in memory may be made to Rosemary Ward Wellington Athletic Fund at St. Joseph's Academy, 2307 S.
