Charles Phil "Chuck" Todt Obituary
Todt, Charles Chuck Phil died Feb. 12 in St. Louis. He was 81. Todt loved his family, his law practice, his faith, his recreation and his vodka, not always in that order. Chuck grew up in south St. Louis, son of Phil Todt, first baseman for the Boston Red Sox and the Philadelphia Athletics. Chuck attended Our Lady of Sorrows grade school and graduated from McBride High School. Chuck attended St Louis University where he met the love of his life, Alice Bielicke. Chuck served four years in the Naval Reserve. After graduation, he was drafted and served in the army. When he returned home, he married, worked for State Farm Insurance and attended night law school at St. Louis University Law School. Chuck started practicing law at Padberg and Raack and then established the first of many law partnerships. Eventually, he established The Todt Law Firm, with an emphasis in family law. In 2012, Chuck joined the Sandburg Phoenix law firm. During the course of his 50 year law career, he was elected to Best Lawyers in America for 20 consecutive years, served as president and VP of the Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis, was a president of the Lawyers Association of St. Louis and past chairman of the St. Louis Chapter of Matrimonial Lawyers. When Chuck wasn't in the courtroom, he was at the Lake house, skiing in Colorado, playing golf with his wife of 54 years, hunting, watching Cardinals baseball, driving fast cars and being an active member of St. Vincent's parish. He is survived by his wife, Alice; his son, Michael (Michelle); daughter Beth Sweetman (Chuck); daughter Alicia Todt (Lauren) and daughter Anne-Marie Kelley (Hollis); and 10 grandchildren: Katie, Courtney, Mary Ellen, Will, Alex Todt; Claire Sweetman; Savannah, Jonah, Elijah and Jeremiah Kelley. He is preceded in death by his father, Phil; mother Ida; and sister, Phyllis. Services: A memorial service will be held Monday, February 17 at 2 p.m. at St. Vincent DePaul, 1408 South 10th St, St Louis, Missouri. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Vincent Social Ministries.
