John Pacifico Berra Obituary
Berra, John Pacifico fortified with the Sacraments of Holy Mother Church, Thurs., March 20, 2014 at the age of 89, just days before his 90th birthday. He died peacefully at home, surrounded by his family. He was the beloved husband of the late Rose Berra (nee Zarinelli); loving father to his six children Ron (the late Mary), Bob (Mary), Linda (Don) Ford, Joe (Shannon Speed), Maryrose (Tony) Behr and Lisa (Mike) Wild; dear grandfather to his 19 grandchildren Christopher, Maria, Katie, Matt, Annmarie, Josie, and Thomas Behr; Allison, Andrew, Emily, Rosemary, Anna, and Alex Ford; Justin, Julia, Nathan, and Natalie Wild; Josue and Zoe Berra. He is survived by his two sisters Louise Linsin and Dorothy Westrich. Those who knew John remember him as a dedicated and determined father, grandfather, friend, and Civil Engineer. Since his early teen years, John enjoyed the camaraderie and sporting events of the Wildcats Athletics Club where he formed friendships that lasted throughout his lifetime. He is an Army World War II Veteran who served his country in the Philippines. As a Civil Engineer, John's most notable projects include the Poplar Bridge, Ralston Purina Headquarters Building, the Rush Island Power Plant. His most memorable achievement was being awarded the Build America Award from the Associated General Contractors for the Melvin Price Lock and Dam Project. He will be dearly missed. Services: Visitation will be held at 11:00 AM followed by Mass at 12:00 PM on Saturday, March 22, 2014 at Our Lady of Providence Catholic Church, 8866 Pardee Road. Interment Resurrection Cemetery. Masses or Memorials to or the Society of Jesus (Jesuits) preferred. A Service of KUTIS AFFTON CHAPEL.
