Mary Maloney Gilbert Obituary
Gilbert, Mary Maloney fortified with the Sacraments of Holy Mother Church, on Thursday, May 29, 2014. Mrs. Gilbert was the wife of the late Claude A. Gilbert, who was President of the Gilbert Buick Auto Agency. She was born in New York City and came to St. Louis to marry Mr. Gilbert in 1951. She had many step-children and grandchildren and was a step-greatgrandmother. She was preceded in death by her two sisters and two brothers. She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Mary was involved in many charitable endeavors. She was a Past-President of VSC (Volunteer Service Counsel). She also was very involved in raising funds for opthomology at UMSL, she did this through her tireless efforts chairing many Shadow Balls. Mary also ran Celebrity Corner an upscale formal dress shop which generated funds for the American Cancer Society. Mary was a PastPresident of the Clayton Club for Women and was an active volunteer at St. Mary's Hospital in Richmond Heights and with The American Cancer Society. She served for many years on the Friends Board at the University of Missouri, St. Louis, and particularly active with its School of Optometry. Services: The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at the Church of the Immacolata, 8900 Clayton Rd., Richmond Heights, on Wednesday, June 4 at 10 a.m. Visitation at the Church beginning at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday. Interment Oak Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Mary M. Gilbert Scholarship Fund at The University of Missouri, St. Louis. A SERVICE OF THE LUPTON CHAPEL
