Dr. Glen H. Woofter Obituary
Woofter, Dr. Glen H of Warson Woods, born December 23, 1921, died peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on Thursday, June 19, 2014. He died from complications following a fall. Glen was a native St. Louisan, graduating from Blewett High School. He received his degree from Illinois College of Podiatric Medicine. He had a thriving practice in downtown St. Louis for over 50 years. Dr. Woofter served as a medic in World War II participating in the D-Day invasion of Normandy, the Battle of the Bulge, and other major European campaigns. Glen was a hard-working, generous, fun-loving family-man. He was an avid sports enthusiast, actively participating in golf, tennis and fishing. He also enjoyed bridge and painting. Dr. Woofter was proud of his family and adored his wife of 65 years, Carla R. Woofter. He was the loving father of Caryl (Stephen) Werntz, Carla (Don) Blaine and Janice (Jim) Eschenbrenner; cherished grandfather of Aaron Werntz, Amy Werntz (Danny) Piassick, Luke (Erika) Blaine, Loren Blaine (John) Clark and Matt Eschenbrenner; great-grandfather to Luke Eschenbrenner, Bryan and David Clark; dear brother of the late Betty Woofter; brother-in-law of the late Reinhold Schulz; dear uncle of Diane (Gary) Gilbert and the late David Schulz; and a treasured friend.
