Mary Maxine Smith Obituary
Smith, Mary Maxine (nee White) 81, formerly of St. Louis, Mo., passed peacefully Friday, July 4, 2014 at her home in Damiansville, Ill. She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Richard A. in 1999, father, Robert G. White and mother Faye A. White. Max, as she was known to all, made a loving home in South St. Louis for six children: Debra (Harry) Leip; Denise (Terry) Toon; Diane (Glen) Fowler; Lisa (Jerome) Bower; Richard (Vickie); and Sean (Tonya) Smith. She also made a home away from home for 16 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren with one on the way. She loved the Cardinals, coffee, playing cards, yahtzee and farkel, mystery novels, square dancing, going to Blues music festivals and most of all, her family. She was active in the Bevo Mill neighborhood and VFW Post 6137, a former parishioner of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in St. Louis and most recently an active member of St. Damian Church Ladies' Sodality. She retired in 2006 from Judevine Center for Autism after 19 years as the person who could get everything done. Max's kindness, humor, strength and wisdom will forever be remembered by all who knew her. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Max to the Judevine Center for Autism or donor's is preferred. Services: Funeral: Mom chose cremation and a memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, July 7, 2014, at KUTIS FUNERAL HOME in Affton, Mo.
