Floyd Richards Obituary
Richards, Floyd Commander Floyd D. Richards passed into God's tender care on Saturday, August 16, 2014. He was a man among men, soldier among soldiers, and above all, he will be remembered as a wonderful man to those who loved him. He was preceded in death by the woman of his dreams, LaDonna. Survived by a son, daughter, 6 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, 1 sister and 3 brothers. Cmdr. Richards enlisted in the Navy as an Ensign in 1942. He began the Navy as a pilot in WWII. He also served aboard ships in the Korean and Vietnam Wars retiring as a ship commander. After his Navy retirement he worked for the state of Missouri as Director of Aging. He was honored elderly by the Missouri Health Care Association for his work there. Floyd played a leading role in the American Association of Retired Persons and Silver Haired Legislature. He has been a devoted Mason, Shriner, and a long term Jester of the Air Patrol. Floyd and LaDonna enjoyed their membership at Norwood Hills Country Club. His love of golf in his retirement was his passion. Services: for Floyd will be held on Tuesday, August 19, 2014 at 12 noon at STYGAR FLORISSANT and CREMATION CENTER, 13980 New Halls Ferry Rd. Florissant, Mo. 63033. Interment Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Shriner Children's Hospital (Office of Major Giving, 2900 Rocky Point Dr., Tampa Fl. 33607, 813-367-2241) or the Blind Society of St. Louis. VISITATION TUESDAY 10:30 till 12 noon.
