Elizabeth Dean "Betty" Buck Obituary
Buck, Elizabeth Dean Betty, (nee Baker) on Sunday, Aug. 24, 2014 at the age of 91. Beloved wife of Wilmer Earle Buck for the past 67 years; very loving mother of Clayton Buck and Caryl Buck; daughter of the late Paul W. and Pauline Baker; sister of the late James Baker. An accomplished professional musician, Betty trained as a classical pipe organist at Oberlin College and graduated from Washington University in St. Louis. She was a church organist and choir director, well known for her beautiful and stirring Christmas church music programs. Betty was past President of the St. Louis Chapter of the American Guild of Organists, held offices in the St. Louis Alumni Chapter of the co-ed international professional music fraternity, Mu Phi Epsilon, as well as in P.E.O., a pioneer philanthropic organization promoting opportunities for women. She was also active in the church life and Women's Missionary Society of Third Baptist Church of St. Louis. Betty loved her family, her church, sacred and classical music, flowers, and had a flair for interior decoration, and a wonderful sense of humor.
