Olive Amelung Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 8, 2016.
Amelung, Olive Elizabeth (nee Laubert), on her 84th year, to Heaven on eagle's wings, Thurs. Jan. 7, 2016, to the glorious greeting of Jesus and her loving family joyously awaiting who have gone before her. Deeply devoted loving wife of James J. Amelung for 64 years. Her children were blessed by her unconditional love, support, and proud adoration, as well as their spouses, Janet-Amy (Fred) Grass, Roger Amelung, Debra (Michael) Henderson, Donald Amelung, Michael Amelung, and David (Macheal) Amelung. Forever in the hearts of her 12 grandchildren and 8 greatgrandchildren. Survived by precious sisters Georgina (Jim) Fick, Mary Ann Birtley, and dear sister-in-law Margaret Storm. Olive was born March 6, 1931 in Vienna, Maries County, MO, 6th of 10 children. Parents were Frederick and Elizabeth (nee Walker) Laubert. Olive moved to St. Louis, met the man of her dreams at Parkmoor - Clayton, MO., also worked at Broderick-Bascom Rope Co. Married James August 25, 1951 at Visitation Catholic Church, Vienna, MO. Since 1958, in their Affton, MO homestead, she was a dedicated housewife, member of St. Timothy Catholic Church, Mother's Club and Kitchen Band, making life- long close friends. Olive's deep faith gave her incredible strength thru adversity through the years. Wise in life's meaning, self-taught, quiet sense of humor, quick to smile - sincere but unpretentious, full of grace. Elegant with class and integrity, beautiful vibrant woman with silky soft skin, gorgeous red hair, ornate stitched blouses. She gave her whole heart and soul to being the best housewife and mother. World's best cook, especially her German Potato salad, stew and perfect Pot Roast. She enjoyed sitting outside in the double swing with Jim, watching birds and animals in the backyard, walks with Grandchildren at the Lake Ozark home searching for treasures of Nature, her ferns/plants on sunporch, knick-knacks, lovely throw blankets, playing Blackjack, reading, watching current news, Hallmark and mystery movies, Music of Celtic Thunder and Sound of Music. She had the best cuddles - softly rubbing our arm and asking, And who is taking care of YOU? then reading her favorite book, Dr. Seuss, Did I Ever Tell You How Lucky You Are? to her Itty Bitties as she affectionately called her grandchildren. Our sweet Wife and Momma - Job well done - You were loved, you made a difference, and yes, we know we were the luckiest people in the world to have been unconditionally loved by you. Services: Visitation St. George Catholic Church; Affton, MO. Sat. Jan 9, 2016 10-11 a.m.- followed by 11 a.m. Mass. Private Interment. If desired, contributions may be made to The Daily World Missionnaires, 20 Archbishop May Drive St. Louis, MO 63119 (att Msgr Blood) or Lawyers For Life, 10004 Bellefontaine Rd, St. Louis, MO 63137.
