Joseph C. Botz II Obituary
Botz II, Joseph C. 88, went peacefully to heaven on April 19, 2010. Beloved husband of 59 years to Bette J. Botz (deceased); loving Father of Joseph Michael Botz, Therese Marie Botz, Daniel Joseph Botz, William Joseph Botz, John Joseph Botz, Susan Botz Genz, Karen Botz Geldert; Father-In-Law of Lisa Botz, Angela Botz, Kurt Genz and Robert Geldert; loving and proud Grandfather of Kiefer and Katrina Botz, Amy and Cory Vollmer, Ryan and Julia Botz, Tanner and Bridget Geldert, Brad, Tyler and Aaron Genz. Joe was born in Sedalia, MO August 20, 1921. His family moved to Jefferson City to run the Botz and Sons Printing Company. Joe helped his father and Grandfather in the shop which sparked his profession as a typewriter repair and school supplies businessman. Joe developed a love for flying; he took flying lessons after Junior College. When WWII broke out, he joined the Air Force where he piloted 87 missions in his P-47D Thunderbolt while attaining the rank of Captain. Joe was awarded an Air Medal with 18 clusters and the Distinguished Flying Cross. Joe never considered himself a hero; but he will always be to his family in more ways than one. Joe was full of life and devoted to his wife, family, home and many friends. He was active in St. Roch Parish for many years; was passionate about his Catholic faith and enjoyed helping others. His life was full of hard work, friends, and laughter. Services: A visitation service will be held at BOPP Chapel on 10610 Manchester, Kirkwood, MO 63122 on Thursday, April 22nd from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. A memorial Mass will be held in his honor at St. Roch Catholic Church, 6052 Waterman, St. Louis, MO 63112 on Friday April 23rd at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations to be made to American Veterans www.amvets.com, or Respect Life Apostolate (Prolife), http://archstl.org/respectlife in honor of Joe.
