Purk, Elmer J. fortified with the Sacraments of Holy Mother Church, Tuesday, January 22, 2013. Beloved husband for 68 years of Lois Purk (nee Sykora); dear father of Michael (Amy) Purk, Karen (Kevin) Murphy, Diane (Michael) Seerey and the late Thomas Purk; dear grandfather of Ryan Murphy, Katie (Geoff) Anderson, Logan, Dane and Julia Purk, Jessica (Andrew) Schneider and Andrew Simon; dear greatgrandfather of Reese Anderson; loving brother, brother-in-law, uncle and friend. Mr. Purk retired as Postmaster (Troy, MO). His 36 years of service with the United States Postal Service included Superintendent of Kirkwood Post Office and various other assignments. He was past member of Troy Rotary Club, Troy Chamber of Commerce, National Association of Postmasters, Retired Federal Employees, VFW Post 1400, Feed My People Volunteer of the Year 1995, St. Vincent de Paul of St. Paul's Catholic Church, League of 1000 Men, Volunteer Docent with Jefferson Barracks National Park and volunteer at St. Anthony's Hospital. Proud Army Veteran of World War II, awarded the Bronze Star for meritorious achievement in ground combat in the AsiaticPacific Theater of Operations. Services: Funeral from KUTIS AFFTON Chapel, 10151 Gravois, Friday, January 25, 9 a.m. to St. Paul Catholic Church (Fenton) for 9:30 a.m. Mass. Interment J.B. National Cemetery. Contributions to the appreciated. Visitation Thursday, 4-8 p.m.
