Walker M.D., Francis S. passed away peacefully on March 30 at the age of 86. Husband of Jean; dear father of John (Margy), Michael (Deetzie), Elizabeth Walker, Jane (Bob) Fisher, Lynn Riepen and the late Brian Riepen; dear grandfather of Megan, Anna, Daniel, Sarah, Laura, Alex, Albrecht, Erich, Ellen, Frances, Dietrich, and Blair and great-grandfather of Hadley and John. Francis was born in Ashtabula, Ohio and graduated from Ohio Wesleyan University as well as the St. Louis University School of Medicine. He interned at Orange Memorial Hospital in Orlando, FL before serving as a flight surgeon in the U.S. Air Force. He began his neurosurgical residency at the Cleveland Clinic and finished at the University of Iowa. He was a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a member of the St. Louis Metropolitan Medical Society, Missouri State Medical Society, American Medical Association, Congress of Neurological Surgeons, American Association of Neurological Surgeons, and St. Louis Neurosciences Society. He was past president of both the Missouri State Neurosurgical Society and St. Louis Surgical Society. He was a long-time member and avid golfer at Bellerive C.C. His love of traveling took him to all seven continents. Services: The church service and burial will be private. Donations may be made to the animal shelter of your choice to commemorate his love of all animals.
