Jeanine Hagen Obituary

Hagen, Jeanine Marie (nee Brewer), passed away on Wednesday, February 10, 2016. Mrs. Hagen was born on December 8, 1931, in Davenport, Iowa, to Helen (Davitt) Brewer and Vern Starr Brewer. Beloved wife for 57 years of the late Garrett Anton Hagen, M.D.; mother of Julie (Mark) Myers, Lucy (William) Jochens, the late Garrett A. Hagen, Jr., M.D., Alan Hagen, M.D., Chris Hagen, and Emily (the late Steve) Tucker; grandmother to Rosalie, Nina and Nick Myers; Lanie, Peter, Claire and George Jochens and Noah Frederking; sister to Margaret (Nicholas) Colarelli and the late William (the late Nancy) Brewer; sisterin-law to Duane (Kit) Hagen, M.D. Jeanine Hagen grew up in Iowa, graduating from St Joseph Academy High School in Des Moines. She attended Drake University, subsequently relocating to St. Louis where she worked as a secretary. She married Garrett Hagen, M.D., in Des Moines, Iowa, on October 17, 1957. They eventually located in St Louis, and raised a family of 6 children. Mrs. Hagen spent many hours working as a volunteer in her children's schools. She was a fixture in the Glenridge Elementary School library for many years and used her secretarial skills as a typist for the St. Louis Priory School, St. Louis University High School, and Visitation Academy auction catalogs. As an empty nester, she returned to work as a secretary at Colarelli and Associates. Mrs. Hagen loved to cook large holiday dinners and was such a purist that she canned vegetables grown in her own farm garden. A sports fan, she followed all St. Louis teams and was also a devoted Duke basketball fan.
