Adam D. Riach Obituary
Adam Donald Riach, age 45, passed recently at his home in LaPorte, Colo.
He was born Feb. 15, 1971, in St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada, a son of Donald and Linda (Cakebread) Riach.
Adam resided in Colorado since 2008, coming from the Chicago area, and he was a graduate of Wheaton North High School with the class of 1989. His early life was lived in Ingersoll, Ontario.
Most of Adam's working life was in the construction, electronics and the satellite television industries.
He was proud to have served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps with the 2nd Marine, 2nd Recon Battalion in Kuwait during Desert Storm, earning the rank of lieutenant corporal. While in boot camp, at Marine Recruit Depot at Parris Island, S.C., he earned the coveted Ironman award.
Adam was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars and enjoyed electronics and cooking. He excelled in hockey and loved the outdoors, downhill skiing and time spent with his family.
He is survived by his parents, Donald and Linda Riach of Sturgis; a brother, Tadd Max (Lara) Riach of Geneva, Ill,; a nephew, Tegan, age 4; a niece, Lexi, age 1; two uncles, David Cakebread of Cambridge, Ontario, and Glen (Tammy) Riach of Otterville, Ontario; an aunt, Elaine Leslie of Thamesford, Ontario; and his beloved cat, Merlin.
In accordance with family wishes, cremation has taken place. A gathering of family and friends to remember and honor the life of Adam Donald Riach will be held 3-7 p.m. Friday, July 22, 2016, at Shiraz on the Lake room at Hilton Indian Lakes Resort in Bloomington, Ill.
A graveside service and burial of the ashes will take place at East Oxford Pioneer Cemetery, Oxford Centre, Oxford County Municipality, Ontario, Canada, at a later date, at which time military honors will be conferred by the U.S. Marine Corp Honor Guard.
The Hackman Chapel of Hackman Family Funeral Homes, 114 S. Nottawa St., Sturgis, is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements.
