Janis M. Burnham Obituary
Janis Marilyn Burnham, age 87, of North Canton, Ohio, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, Aug. 20, 2018.
Janis, the youngest of seven siblings, was born Oct.17, 1930, in Matteson Township, Branch County, to the late Alfred "Blue" and Gladys (Snook) Sprowl. On March 11, 1951, she married Edward Vaughn Burnham, her high school sweetheart and husband of 53 years. he preceded her in death in 2004.
Janis is survived by two sons, Douglas (Chyme) Burnham and Randy Burnham of North Canton, Ohio; four grandchildren, Sean (Kim) Burnham of North Canton, Andrew (Alyssa) Burnham of New York, Heather (Dan) Stewart of Massillon, Ohio, and Amy (Charles) Vendley of Seattle; five great-grandchildren, Daniel, Braiden and Audrey Stewart, and Connor Burnham and Cooper Burnham; and many loving nieces and nephews whom she adored.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles M. Sprowl and Howard Sprowl; and four sisters, Dorothy Robinson, Kathryn Damon, Patience Cook and Wildred Gaal.
Janis retired from Hoover Company with more than 20 years of service. She devoted her life to her family, friends and church. A model of Christian faith and service, Jan was a longtime, active member of Greentown United Methodist Church.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, Aug. 31, at Greentown United Methodist Church, 3088 State St. NW, Greentown, Ohio. Pastor Carolyn Nichols will officiate. Visitation will be held 1-3 p.m. prior to the service. Internment and a second memorial service will be held at a later date at Lakeside Cemetery in Colon.
