Paul A. Myers, 78, of Austin, TX, formerly of Sulphur, Lake Charles and Jennings, LA, died April 16, 2013 in Austin.

Paul grew up in Sulphur with parents Paul and Abnes Myers, brother Nathan and sisters Nazia and Donna.
Music was his love. He was an accomplished trumpet player in the Sulphur High School band, McNeese State College band, Lake Charles Messiah and other music organizations.
After graduating from McNeese, he served two years of active military duty. Returning to LA, he was a band director in Lake Charles 1958-1965 and in Jennings from 1965-1970. He received his Master's degree in Music from LSU, was voted the 1970 Louisiana Band Director of the Year, and moved the family to Austin, TX in 1970, where he received hs PhD from the University of Texas.
He retired from the Texas Education Agency in Austin, served five years as county court baliff, 15 years as assistant director for the New Horizon band, a University of Texas outreach music program for those 50 years and over.
He was very active in Saint Mary Cathedral Church in Austin, loved spending time with family and travelled throughout the U.S. and Canada.
He is preceded in death by his son Patrick. He is survived by wife, Margaret Robin Myers; sons Robin, Mark and Kent; five grandchildren; brother Nathan; and sisters Nazia Primeaux and Donna Lechtenbert.
