Services honoring the life of Lonnie Ray Woods, 61, will be held Friday, Oct. 14, 2011 at 2 p.m. at the Grand Cane Baptist Church.
Officiating the service will be Rev. David Permenter, Rev. Charles Clark, and Rev. Leon Boggs. Interment will follow at Spring Ridge Cemetery, a Masonic graveside will be conducted. Visitation was held from 5-8 p.m. at the Grand Cane Baptist Church, in addition to an Eastern Star Service on Thursday, Oct. 13, 2011.
Lonnie Woods was born on Aug. 29, 1950 in Shreveport, and entered into rest on Oct. 11, 2011 in Shreveport. Mr. Woods was a native of Natchitoches, a member of Mt. Vernon Masonic Lodge F&AM #83, a past Mastor of Liberty Masonic Lodge F&M #123 and a Worthy Patron at AF Garrett Order of Easter Star Chapter #123. Lonnie was a published poet, a master craftsman in his and his father's woodworking shop. He loved his family and was devoted to his wife.
He is preceded in death by his brother, Williams Marcell 'Billy' Woods. Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Martha Bea Woods; parents, Lawrence 'Woody' Woods and Alice Woods; daughters, Jennifer Woods Godwin and husband Brian, Melissa Rae Simon and fiancé Neil Broussard, Kristi Nicole Gary Benton and husband Robin, and Allison Woods; sons, Coleman Welch, Jr. and wife Shyla, Dewayne Edwards and Jason Woods; grandchildren, Karlie Godwin, Miranda Godwin, Nick Simon, Brianna Simon, Ayden Kade Gary and Lorelai Jane Benton; sister, Debra Mitchell and husband Buck; brother, Keith Woods and a host of nieces and nephews and numerous Masonic and Easter Star friends.
Honoring Mr. Lonnie Woods as pallbearers will be members of the Masonic Lodge. Honorary Pallbearers will be Nicholas Simon, Brian Godwin and Robin Benton.
In Lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Woods family at 183 Woods Lane, Grand Cane, LA 71032.
