Roy Leon Sairls, 79, passed away Jan. 15, 2014, in Lansing Mich. Leon was born in Craighead County, Ark., Feb. 28, 1934. He was a happy person and remained cheerful through many years of multiple health problems. He loved life and was an extrovert's extrovert – a stranger was a friend he hadn't met yet. He loved entertaining family and friends with his seemingly endless jokes and stories. He was a retired carpenter and former partner in Mastermart Lumber Company of Lansing, Mich.

he is survived by his wife, Gloria Nostrant Sairles; a sister, Mary (Billy) Tally of Bushnell, Fl.; brother, Clyde Sairls of Bushnell; daughter, Karen (Harry) Pongo of Gatzke, Minn.; grandchildren, Caleb (Annie) and Lydia Pongo; stepchildren, Loretta (Todd) Lindemann, Lecia Nostrant, and Scott (Debbie) Simmons of Michigan; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Gladys Sairls; and two sisters, Violet Lee and Mabel Neal. A memorial service honoring his life will be at York Street Church of God, 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 30, 2014, in Bushnell.
