Arthur Harry Watson Sr., 76, of Lake Panasoffkee, Fla., passed away Friday, Dec. 7, 2012 at Arbor Trails Rehab & Skilled Nursing Center in Inverness. He was born Oct. 16, 1936 in Pylesville, Md., to the late Walter Lee and Minnie (Geib) Watson Sr. Arthur was a Baptist by faith, and a retired Chief Petty Officer in the U.S. Navy with 20 years of service, as well as a retired postal worker at the Martinsburg, West Virginia Post Office. He was a lifetime member of the DAV and VFW in Berkeley Springs, W.Va. He moved to Florida from Hedgesville, W.Va., and lived in Lake Panasoffkee prior to moving to Arbor Trails, where he was a long time resident. Arthur enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, camping and the outdoors, and spending time with friends and family. Arthur was preceded in death by two sons, Arthur H. Watson Jr., and Gary Dale Watson, one grandchild, Jennifer L. Watson, two brothers, one sister, and son-in-law Russell K. Thompson. He is survived by his loving wife of fifty-seven years, Dolores Watson. Other survivors include, two daughters, Kathy J. Watson of Bitely, Mich., and Patricia M. Thompson of Lake Panasoffkee; five grandchildren, Arthur H. Watson III, Christopher Watson, and Jason Watson, all of Bitely, Mich., Kimberly Gillon of Grand Rapids, Mich., and Jessica A. Craighead of Lake Panasoffkee; and eight great-grandchildren, two brothers and five sisters. An honor guard service is scheduled on Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2012, 11 a.m., at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, with a celebration of life memorial service to follow at Harvest Baptist Church, Lake Panasoffkee. Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory, Inverness is in charge of arrangements.
