Lloyd William Kurrasch Sr., 87, of Lake Panasoffkee, Fla., died Sunday, March 10, 2013, at Lake City. He was born Nov. 8, 1925, in Big Lake, Minn. Mr.Kurrasch was a Master Sergeant in the United States Army Air Corps/Air Force where he earned 33 medals during WWII and the Korean War. He was a recipient of the Purple Heart. He was a member of the DAV Chapter 70 of Inverness and a member of the DAVA Auxiliary, Unit 96 of Lake Panasoffkee. Mr. Kurrasch served as Commander and Chaplain of Unit 96. He was Commander of the Fifth District. He loved the DAV and helping Veterans. Mr. Kurrasch also retired from CSX Railroad after 23 years. He was a member of St. Matthews Lutheran Church, Tampa. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Barbara; son, Lloyd William (Judy) Kurrasch, Jr. of Waycross, Ga.; daughters, Joyce Lee Nestor of Lake Panasoffkee, and Linda Loye (Raymond) Clifford of Rohnert Park, Calif.; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; sister-in-laws, June Gleaton of Lake Panasoffkee and Nellie Seletos of Lake Panasoffkee; and brother-in-law, Clyde Little of Grants Pass, Ore. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Barbara Sue Stroud; son-in-law, Charles Stroud; and his great-granddaughter, Kayla Smith. Visitation was at the Purcell Funeral Home Chapel Wednesday, March 13, 2013. Services followed at 1 p.m., Pastor Roy Stackpole presided. Military Honors were rendered by the U.S. Air Force. Interment was at Florida National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the DAV - Department of Florida, 2015 SW 75th St., Gainesville, FL 32607.
