WESTERVILLE — Laurabelle Miller, 87, Westerville, formerly of Galena, passed away Saturday evening March 8, 2014, at the Heartland – Uptown Westerville. She was born February 12, 1927, in Utica to John Chester Rowland and Edith (Williams) Rowland and later graduated from Centerburg High School.
She began working as a teller with the Galena branch of the Delaware County Bank and retired in 1989 as assistant branch manager. She was a member of the Galena United Methodist Church for over 50 years where she served as financial secretary and was a member of the choir and the United Methodist Women. She also was a member of the G&T club, the Grace Chapel Joy Group, the Sweet Adelines and the Blendon Senior Choir. She served on the Community Library Board of Trustees and as Treasurer for the Village of Galena and as Clerk for the Board of Public Affairs. She enjoyed singing and traveling.
Left to cherish her memory are her nephews David (Karen) Debolt of Galena and Jim (Julia) Longshore of Milton, Florida; nieces Jane Jackson of Galena, Norma Jean Bowmar of Gainesville, Georgia, and Betty (Dan) Eckert of Blacklick; step-grandson David (Molly) Miller of Hilliard; and by numerous great nieces and great nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband Burt "Casey" Debolt, second husband Clayton C. Miller, an infant brother, and niece and her husband, Peggy and Pat Lafferty.
The family will receive friends today, Thursday March 13, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Galena United Methodist Church, 2777 Sunbury Road, Galena, where Celebration of Life Services will follow at 7 p.m. with Pastor Jeff Croft officiating.
Burial will be at a later date in Galena Cemetery.
