Mary A. Roshon, 91, longtime Sunbury resident, passed away Thanksgiving, Thursday, November 22, 2012 at Bennington Glen Assisted Living in Marengo.
She was born on August 12, 1921 in Lawrence County to the late Eldon and Ora (Hamilton) Rose. On March 2, 1968 she married her beloved husband: Emerson "Woody" Roshon. They were partners in more than marriage, true soul mates.
For a brief time Mary worked in the dietary department of Riverside Hospital. Skilled with the needle and thread, she enjoyed quilting and was a longtime member of the Sunbury United Methodist Church and their Ruth's Circle.
She enjoyed gardening both flowers and vegetables and canning those treasures. Gifted in the kitchen, her meals were always by the clock. Easy going in nature, she will be remembered for her pleasant smile. A country girl until the very end, she was happiest being home on the farm caring for her family's every need.
Mary is survived by sons Edwin (Linda) Roshon of Sunbury and Danny (Carolyn) Roshon of Ostrander; grandchildren Wendy (George) Schreiber, Erin (Jim) Peters, Chris (Julie) Roshon, Kate Roshon (fiancée Keith Salyers) and Casey (Megan) Roshon; great-grandchildren Ashley and Eddie Schreiber and Jacob Peters; brother James (Ernestine) Rose of Columbus; nieces and nephew Sarah Rose, Vicki (Joe) McGuire and Tom (Ronda) Rose; and by great-nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, sister Ruth Jenkins and brother W. Edward Rose.
Services were held Tuesday, November 27, 2012 at the DeVore- Snyder Funeral Home in Sunbury. Burial followed in Sunbury Memorial Park.
Memorial contributions may be made to Sunbury United Methodist Church or Odyssey Hospice.
