Ruth E. (Counts) Martindale(1928-2012)

Ruth E. Martindale, 84. formerly of Sunbury, passed away Monday, November 19, 2012 at Edgewood Manor in Westerville.
She was born on July 31, 1928 in Parkersburg, West Virginia to the late Isaac and Ada (Deem) Counts. A graduate of Berlin High School in 1948, she was a homemaker until her children were grown. She then worked at Nestlés in Sunbury; she also owned and operated the former Marty's Pizza with her family. With her friendly nature she later worked as a hostess with the Hampton Inn at the I-71 U.S. 36/Ohio37 exit and Bob Evans Restaurant on Maxtown Road, Westerville.
Never one to sit still, she was active in many community affairs as a member of the Sunbury Eagles, AmVets, V.F.W. and Columbia Chapter #33 O.E.S.. Talented with the needle and thread, she enjoyed sewing and doing alterations, which led to her collection of thimbles. Ruth was a good Mom, who always looked for the positive in everyone, and cared deeply for the needs of her friends.
Ruth is survived by her beloved children Lanta Davis of Galena, Eric (Bonita) Martindale of Sunbury and Aretta Diddle of Westerville; grandchildren Mikel, Shana (Greg), Sheila (Brad), Samantha (Elijah), Brandon, Eric, Kristina and Brock; 4 great-grandchildren Trey, Sophia, Dean and Benjamin; as well as by brothers Frank, Issac (Marlene), Rush (Christine) and Edgar (Lynn) Counts.
