SUNBURY - Mary Shively, 81, of Sunbury, Ohio, passed away on February 24, 2014, at Country View Nursing Center, Sunbury.
Born on July 21, 1932 in Owensboro, Kentucky to the late Charles and Helen (Redle) Ballman. She was a 1950 graduate of Columbus Linden McKinley High School, a member of the St. John Neumann Catholic Church, DAR, Council of Older Adults and Ohio Bluegrass Association. Mary enjoyed needlepoint, listening to bluegrass, ceramics, gardening, canning and freezing her products from gardening, camping and spending time with her grandchildren
She is survived by her children: Terry of Sunbury, Steven (Dawn) of Ocala, Florida, Catherine Hess of Hebron, David (Juli) of Lewis Center and Becky (Todd) Malone of Athens, grandchildren: Amanda, Joshua, Adam, Blake, Chad, Landon, Austin, Wes, Shane, Corey, Gerrilyn, Madelyn, Takoda and Bridgett; great-grandchildren: Camron, Jase, Julia, Connor, Maxwell and Harper Jane; by a brother: Robert Ballman; and by a sister: Doris (Frank) Laughlin of Kirkersville.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband: Edward F. Shively; granddaughter: Megan Hess; brothers: Charles and Paul Ballman; and by a sister: Rose Gladman.
Calling hours were held from 3 to 6 p.m. on Sunday March 2, 2014 at the DeVore-Snyder, Ohio 3 at 61, Sunbury. Mass of Christian Burial was held Monday 9 a.m. at St. John Neumann Catholic Church. Interment was in the Trenton Cemetery.
