Rebecca Harbour Partesotti, 34, formerly of Ocean Springs, died Tuesday, March 2, 2011, in her hometown of Takoma Park, Maryland. She grew up in Ocean Springs before earning degrees from The University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa and The University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. At the University of Alabama, she graduated summa cum laude and was the recipient of the Algernon Sydney Sullivan Award, presented annually to one man and one woman of the graduating class in recognition of excellence of character and service to humanity. As an attorney with a Master's degree in Public Health, she continued to serve through her work in various settings as an attorney specializing in elder care.
She is survived by her husband Adam Smart, her parents Larry and Susan Partesotti, her sister Mollie Bette Partesotti, her aunt Paula Bette Tally, and her uncle Tommy Siniard. In her honor, a memorial endowment has been established with the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), an organization which fosters understanding and tolerance of mental illness. This organization was very important to Rebecca and those she served. Her husband and her family plan to make fundraising for this endowment a permanent endeavor; therefore, in lieu of flowers, please consider contributing in her memory at www. rebeccaharbourmemorial.org.
A memorial service honoring the life of Rebecca Harbour Partesotti will be held on Sunday, March 20, 2011, at Christus Victor Lutheran Church, 2755 Bienville Blvd., Ocean Springs, MS. A reception at the church will follow the service.

Adam and Partesotti family,
Chad and I are heartbroken to hear this news. We had moved and lost contact for a little while. Rooming with Rebecca at Alabama, having her as my Maid of Honor and lifetime friend, I always knew her as such a vibrant star. I am so truly sorry to learn of this loss...Rebecca was extraordinary and will always be missed.
Love,
Chad and Lauren Goodson

Dear Susan, Larry, and Mollie, Robin and I were so sad to hear of Rebecca's passing. Please accept our condolences. We cannot understand such a dire thing happening, and I guess the Lord doesn't expect us to. Just know that she was a strictly awesome person who, I am sure, influenced many people in a good way while she was on earth. She will always be remembered for being such a sweetie, not stuck on herself, though she had plenty reason to be!
Love you always,
Betty and Robin

I'll see her always as the beautiful, brilliant, laughing child. Mere words seem so inadequate to express such depth of sorrow. May your faith sustain you and may our loving Father hold you and comfort you, and bring you peace. Margaret Brenke
