Ellen McDonald Kane, 64, of Bay St. Louis, MS passed away on Sunday, April 7, 2013. She was born in New Orleans, LA and was a lifelong resident of Bay St. Louis. She graduated from Bay High School then attended Stephens College in Columbia, MO before graduating from Louisiana State University
in Baton Rouge, LA. She was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority. Ellen was the owner and operator of Ellen Kane Gifts from 1974 until Hurricane Katrina. She was a member of Main Street United Methodist Church, Bay-Waveland Yacht Club, Ladies Auxiliary of BWYC, Junior Auxiliary of Bay St. Louis; Krewe of Nereids and the Hancock County Chamber of Commerce. Ellen was also affiliated with the Boys and Girls Club, Hancock County Food Pantry and Altrusa Club Community Service Organziation of Bay St. Louis. Ellen was a loving mother, sister, grandmother and friend to many and will be sadly missed by all who knew her.
She is preceded in death by her parents, John J. and Iva May Pilcher McDonald.
She is survived by her two sons, John Regan Kane and his wife, Jana of Bay St. Louis, MS, Sanders Burke Kane and his wife, Allison of New Orleans, LA; her sister, Nancy McDonald of Bay St. Louis, MS; four grandchildren, Anne Pierson Kane, John Waring Kane; Katherine May Kane and Grace Ellen Kane; several nieces and nephews.
The visitation will be on Tuesday, April 9, 2013 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Edmond Fahey Funeral Home in Bay St. Louis, MS. The funeral Service will be on Wednesday, April 10, 2013 at 11:00 am at Main Street United Methodist Church in Bay St. Louis, MS with interment to follow in Garden of Memory Cemetery in Bay St. Louis, MS.
In lieu of flowers the family prefers donations to Main Street United Methodist Church, 162 Main St., Bay St. Louis, MS 39520 or Friends of the Animal Shelter of Hancock County, P.O. Box 2274, Bay St. Louis, MS 39521-2274.
The family would like to thank Dr. Rowe Crowder, Dr. Edwin Davidson and all her friends whom she loved dearly.
