Mr. LV Lewis was born on December 16, 1924 in Canton Mississippi, to the parents of Mr. Eddie Lewis and Ms. Mary Pugh. He received his education in the Mississippi Public School System.
L.V. joined the United States Army at the young age of 20 where he later was discharged with honors. After leaving the military he united with his loving wife of 65 years, Ms. Mary Elisa Harrington, and to this union nine children were born. He moved to the Mississippi Gulf Coast in 1952 where he became employed with Harrison County School District. He later became employed with Mississippi State Health Department for 35 years before retiring.
L.V. loved spending time with his family and helping those in need. He and his wife enjoyed watching their family grow through the generations, and took an active role in raising their grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was loved by everyone he came in contact with, always taking time to share a story or give some advice. He had a big heart and a magnetic personality.
L.V. leaves to cherish his precious memory four sons, Levi Lewis of Bentonia ,MS, Archie Lee Lewis of Chicago, IL, Leroy Lewis of New Orleans.LA, and Willie Earl Lewis of Chicago. IL; five daughters. Hattie Lite of Chicago. IL, Dorothy Expose of Charlotte,NC, Josephine Lewis of New Orleans. LA, Linda Peoples of Gulfport. MS, Christine Lewis of Gulfport. MS; thirty grandchildren, to include a devoted grandson, Jeremiah Morman whom he raised since he was three weeks old; 36 great-grandchildren, to include his special princess, Janaya Myrick; eight great-great grandchildren; one sister Francis of Jackson, MS; three brothers, Ervin of Miami, FL, Leo of Cleveland, OH, Johnny of Canton, MS.
L.V. was proceeded in death by his parents; his loving and devoted wife of 65 years Mrs. Mary Eisa Lewis; a grandson Ernest Lee Lewis; three brothers Josh, B.C., Ellis; two sisters, Christine and Hattie.
Funeral: 11:30 am, Monday, June 3, 2013, Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church. Visitation: 10:30. Interment: Biloxi National Cemetery. Sign registry at lockettwilliams.com.
