Roland Avery, 60 died October 22, 2006, Lynnwood, WA.

Mr. Avery was born in Pass Christian, MS, on October 24, 1945, to Mr. & Mrs. John C. Avery both who preceded him in death.

He was baptized in First Missionary Baptist Church in Pass Christian, MS.

He served in the US Army where he completed a tour in Vietnam receiving several Medals of Honor for his services. While in Washington he worked in several different fields of business and retired after 25 years of service with GTE/Verizon.

Mr. Avery was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Geraldine Thofield and Barbara Bailey.

Roland leaves to mourn his memory three children; Andrea' Avery Kent, Anthony Avery, Kirkland, Jordan Avery, all of WA; three brothers, James Avery, Gulfport, Jackie Avery, GA, twin brother, Ronald Avery, Okinawa, Japan; two sisters, Gwendolyn Lizana Meridian, MS, Linda Morgan Gulfport; two grandsons, Nathaniel Avery, Everett, Cameron Avery, both of WA, a host of loving nephews, nieces, family and friends.

Memorial Services will be held, 9 a.m., Friday, October 27, 2006, at Lockett-Williams Mortuary, Inc. 2018 31st Avenue, Gulfport. Internment will follow at Biloxi National Cemetery.
