Ronald Steven Reagan

March 2, 1943 - July 15, 2014

Long Beach, MS

Ron Reagan was born on March 2, 1943, to Otis Douglas Reagan and the late Kathryn Dowdy Reagan in Meridian, MS. He died at the UAB Trauma Center in Birmingham, AL, on July 14, 2014. He was a resident of Long Beach, MS.

Ron graduated from Biloxi High School in Biloxi, MS, in 1960. He received a B.S. in Civil Engineering from Louisiana State University in 1964, a Master's Degree in Engineering Mechanics from Rice University in 1966, and a Ph.D. in Structural Engineering from Louisiana State University in 1970. During his career he worked at several oil companies and structural engineering firms as well as teaching as an adjunct professor in the Mississippi college system. Ron was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Long Beach, and attended worship at The Well on the USM campus in Long Beach.

In addition to his father, Ron's survivors include his wife Lucy Morrow Reagan, sons Steven James Reagan and Jacob Jefferson Reagan, his sisters Nancy Reagan Ruff and husband Garry and Rebecca Reagan Hutto and husband Davis. Other survivors are his nephews Charles Robert Head, Brian Thomas Head, Cory Douglas Hutto and wife Alison, Eric Davis Hutto and wife Sarah, niece Amelia Elizabeth Hutto, his aunts Geneva Rutledge (Wallace) and Elizabeth Dowdy Vernon, numerous cousins, and his very dear friend John Armstrong.

Visitation will be at 1 P.M. Monday, July 21, at the First United Methodist Church of Long Beach, MS, with memorial service to follow at 2 P.M. The family requests no flowers. Instead, the family suggests donations to the First United Methodist Church of Long Beach, the Humane Society of South Mississippi, or the American Liver Foundation, Great Lakes Division, 67 E. Madison Street, Suite 1614, Chicago, IL 60603 Attn: TEAM BLAIRE.

The family especially wishes to thank the Clay County, AL rescue team, the UAB Trauma Center of Birmingham, AL, and the Alabama Organ Center, specifically Toria Pettway LBSW.
