Luther Wesley Conn, Jr

Long Beach, MS

Luther Wesley Conn Jr., 82, passed away Friday morning, June 19,2014.

Luther was a Long Beach resident all his life. He graduated from Long Beach High School, Class of 1950. After serving honorably in the United States Army for two years, he graduated from Mississippi State University in 1957.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Luther W. Conn Sr., and Ruth Conn; and his brother, Walter O. Conn.

He is survived by his wife, Lois DuBois Conn; stepsons, David DuBois (Sherri) and Clay DuBois (Dawn); grandsons Logan Crowe and Allen DuBois; and granddaughters: Amanda Crowe, Tiffany Berry and Laura DuBois.

Luther was a member of the First Baptist Church of Long Beach all of his life. He was also a member of Southern Star Masonic Lodge #500 where he served as Master of the Lodge, Secretary, and Chairman of the Board of Trustees during construction of the facility on Klondyke Road. He was also a Shriner and member of both the Scottish and York Rites of Masonry. Mr. Conn was an active member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter 306. He served as a Demolay Dad.

Luther served loyally in industry as a non-destructive test inspector for Ingalls. Subsequently, he worked in Management positions with Dupont and the Ammo plant.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the First Baptist Church of Long Beach-"His Church Rising", 300 North Cleveland Ave, Long Beach, MS 39560 or to the .

The funeral service will be held at the First Baptist Church of Long Beach at 11:00 AM on Monday, June 23, 2014 with a visitation for family and friends from 9:00 AM until the service. Burial with Masonic Rites will follow at the Conn Cemetery, Gates Ave., Long Beach.
