Jerry W. Funk, Jr.
Jerry W. Funk, Jr., 55, of Gulfport, went home with his Precious Lord on Sunday, November 11, 2012, after his battle with cancer.
Jerry is preceded in death by his father, Jerry Funk, Sr.; his brother, "Skip" Funk; and his sister, Darlene Funk.
He is survived by his wife and soulmate of 23 years, Jewel Funk; his mother, Nean Funk of Gulfport; brothers, Mike Funk of Gulfport, and Scott Funk of Brunswick, GA; children, Billy Wayne Funk, Stefanie McKnight, Michelle Uzzell, and Tricia Allen, all of Gulfport; 9 precious grandchildren, Hannah, Tyler, Cody, Breanna, Eric, Jacob, Colin, Tanner, and Annaleigh; as well as his canine companion, Chewy.
Jerry was a member of Campground Baptist Church and was a crane operator for 27 years. He loved his precious momma, cherished life, sunsets, music, playing guitar, fishing, growing his garden, and enjoying his new shed that he and his best friend (Glenn Broadus) built. He was an excellent father and an inspiration to all. He was always kind, sweet, honest, funny, and touched everyone's heart. He will be remembered as a gentle soul and a "Simple Man."
Visitation will be held on Thursday, Nov. 15, 2012, at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Road, Gulfport, from Noon until 2:00 p.m. Funeral services will be be held in the chapel at 2:00 p.m.
Burial will follow at Woolmarket Cemetery.
