Jerry W. Atkinson, Sr.

1952 ~ 2014


Jerry W. Atkinson, Sr., age 61, died Tuesday, January 14, 2014.

He was a longtime resident of Biloxi. A member of Nativity BVM Cathedral, he served as an usher and Eucharistic Minister. Jerry was a member of Benevolent Protective Order of the Elks # 606, Biloxi, the Knights of Columbus Council #1244 and the D'Iberville Assembly 4th Degree Knights of Columbus.

He was preceded in death by his son, Brian Keith Atkinson; and his parents, Julious "Pete" and Ruby Atkinson.

Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Laura Renaud Atkinson; daughter, Cheryl Atkinson; daughter-in-law, Tammy Atkinson; sons, Jerry Wayne Atkinson, Jr. (Kerry), Dwayne Atkinson (Donna), and Jonathan Atkinson (Holli); grandchildren, Lauren Lovero, Bryce Bosarge, Ella Bosarge, Abigail Atkinson, Bayleigh Atkinson, Mariah Alexander, Meggan Alexander , Katilyn Alexander, Brittany Smith, Shannon Atkinson, Briona Atkinson, Kaleb Atkinson, Taylor Atkinson and Shelby Atkinson; sisters, Doris Atkinson and Judy Atkinson; and brothers, Gene Atkinson, Chuck Atkinson, Jimmy Atkinson and Tommy Atkinson.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to the , 417 Security Square, Gulfport, MS 39507.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 17, 2014 at Nativity BVM Cathedral, where friends may visit from 9:30 a.m. until service time. Burial will follow at Crestlawn Memorial Park. The Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
