Terry Micheal Byrd, age 26, of Wade, Mississippi died March 27th, 2006 in Pascagoula. He was born April 11, 1979 in Pascagoula and was a lifelong resident of Jackson County. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Pascagoula where he served as a Sunday School Teacher for the youth and Pastor Parish Relations Committee. Micheal was a 1997 graduate of Pascagoula High School and received an Associate's degree in 1999 from MGCCC. He completed the police academy at South Regional Public Safety Institute, USM Gulf Coast, the class of 2000 and was pursuing a Bachelor's degree from USM Hattiesburg. Micheal was a six year officer with the Pascagoula Police Department. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police and the National Rifle Association.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Cecil Byrd, Sr. and Elizabeth Byrd and Burt and Evelyn Wilburn. Survivors include his wife, Ashley B. Byrd and son, Steven Micheal Byrd of Wade; parents, Sheriff Mike and Terri Byrd of Helena; sister, Michelle Byrd of Pascagoula; sister and brother-in-law, Kim and Tony Giacone of Pascagoula; father and mother-in-law, Steve and Debbie Blackwell of Waynesboro; sisters and brothers-in-law, Carley and Randy Yarber and Leslie and John Blackledge, nieces and nephews, Shayne Giacone, Austin Byrd, Ariel Giacone, Braden Yarber and Isabella Giacone; uncles and aunts, Cecil and Cindy Byrd, Betty Welton, John and Becky Wilburn, Dee and Don Ladnier, Bill and Jamie Wilburn, Duke Wilburn, grandmother, Earnestine Blackwell, grandfather, Robert Sawyer, numerous other cousins, relatives and friends.

Due to damage from Hurricane Katrina to the family church, the services will be held at First Baptist Church of Pascagoula. The family wishes to thank Dr. Rex Yancey, Rev. Dennis Ray Smith and the church congregation for their kindness. Visitation will be 5:00 until 9:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 29th at First Baptist Church of Pascagoula. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, March 30th from the First Baptist Church sanctuary with Rev. Bruce Taylor, Rev. Earl Greenough, Rev. Robert Kates, Rev. Brad Lewis and Rev. John Gibson officiating. Standing honor guard will be Officers of Pascagoula Police Dept. and Deputies of Jackson County Sheriff's Dept. and other law enforcement agencies in attendance. Donations can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, American Cancer Society, Youth for Christ or Rev. John Hagee Ministries. Also, a memorial fund has been established to benefit Steven Micheal Byrd. Donations can be made at any area branch of Hancock Bank, No. 01-456-6071 or Merchants and Marine Bank, No. 20-332-30. Interment will follow at Serene Memorial Gardens in Escatawpa. Arrangements by Holder-Wells Funeral Home, Moss Point, Mississippi.
