Betty Doris Kula

Kula, Betty Doris, 82, of New Orleans, LA died June 6, 2013. She was born to the late Ethel and Philip Blau, April 13, 1931, in The Bronx, NY. The family moved to Manhattan when Betty was 6. She graduated from high school in 1949 and started college in Long Island at Adelphi University. Betty married the late Albert Kula in 1950, and they lived together in Yonkers, NY. When she was in her 40s, Betty returned to school to complete a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Mercy College in NYC. Betty worked in various administrative positions before joining her husband Al full time in their import/export business. Both she and Al loved to travel internationally not only for business, but also for pleasure. After selling their business, Betty and Al retired to Boynton Beach, FL in 1996. Betty's many hobbies and interests included playing bridge and chess as well as painting. Betty is survived by one daughter: Lila McClellan of Salida, CO. She also is survived by her brother Julian Blau of Delray Beach, FL and two grandchildren; Kristy Magner of New Orleans, LA and Michael Magner of Santa Fe, NM. A breast cancer survivor, Betty frequently volunteered to help people recently diagnosed with breast cancer. Memorial contributions in Betty's honor may be sent to the .
