William H. (Bill) Benson passed away at his home in Pompano Beach on Saturday, August 17, 2013. He was 84 years old. Bill Benson was admitted to the Florida Bar in October of 1956. His long and distinguished legal career began as an associate of George Smathers, in Miami, Florida. For over fifty years, he practiced law in South Florida, most recently as founding partner of Benson, Mucci and Associates. He established the subcontractor's association, which fought for legal protection for construction laborers. Fighting for the rights of those less fortunate was the hallmark of his career. Bill Benson was president of the student body at the University of Florida from 1953 - 1954, and an active member of numerous organizations, including the Delta Tau Delta Fraternity and as Captain on the Florida Blue Key Speech and Debate Society. Bill Benson is survived by his loving wife, Mary Benson, daughters Betsy Benson and Barbra Mundrick, son Bob Benson and grandchildren Bond Benson and Katie Mundrick. Services will be held on Wednesday, August 21st at 12:10 p.m. at Saint Gabriel's Catholic Church, 731 North Ocean Boulevard, Pompano Beach, FL 33062
