I have fond memories of walking down to Meadow Lane for my tap dancing lessons with Rita Curry. I started with her when I was 5 years old and tapped my way to the New Rochelle Mall during Christmas and onto a dance competition at the Waldorf Astoria with my group. I believe our group came in 2nd place! Our recitals were of course always the highlight of the year. There are so many songs that went with our tap dancing numbers…one of them always sticks out. It was 1976 – the year of America's bicentennial. Mrs. Curry chose all patriotic songs for many of the dance numbers. Our group did “You're a Grand Old Flag” and we had red, white & blue costumes. Tap dancing was a big part of growing up in New Rochelle. Rita Curry will always be a part of those memories. Rest in Peace.

I will always smile when I think of my Aunt Rita, she was our "Auntie Mame", always jazzy, classy and so funny. My mom will be so pleased to be part of her welcoming committee on the other side. The world and certainly my childhood, are much happier places for her having been here. Blessings to Karen and Gail, may you find peace in knowing how very much she was loved.

How special it was to have Meadow Lane with Ms. Curry's Dance Studio. She taught many little girls to be young ladies (I was one of them!) with her talent, grace and always a smile. There is a special place in heaven just for her. My thoughts and prayers for my dear friend of many years, Karen, her family, Gail and the many extended family. She is a special lady and missed by all.

You will be dearly missed Aunt Rita, I know heaven is a much happier & happening place since you arrived? Your kindness, wit & Irish humor always kept us in stitches, you & Uncle Frank always had an open door for anyone in the family. I treasure all the fun times we spent together in both Florida & New Rochelle, give my Mom a hug along with all the other Curry's. Sending love & hugs to Gail, Karen, and Samantha.

I am so sorry for the loss of a wonderful person, dancer and teacher! I took dance lessons with "Miss Curry" from about 2 or 3 years old into high school and I will never forget her kind, patient, and generous ways! I remember at every recital she would give us gifts: one year I was thrilled to receive the book, Black Beauty, from her. She taught us some snazzy dance moves, too; she was talented and kept up with the times...my mother Eileen Keyes, who also just passed, is up there with her in heaven, working out a new dance routine! RIP, Rita Curry! You will be remembered always! Jeanine Keyes-Plante
