Alphonse Deprima Obituary

Deprima, Alphonse, passed away peacefully on May, 30, 2011, surrounded by his loving family. Al was truly loved and admired by everyone who had the opportunity to be part of his life. He was born in Brooklyn on December 2, 1922 to Louis and Mary DePrima. Al was a World War ll combat veteran, having flown 31 missions in a B-17 bomber over Germany and France. At the end of the war, Al married his beloved Mary and they were married for 64 years, until Mary's passing in 2009. In 1955 they moved from Brooklyn to Bethpage, Long Island where they raised four children. Al and Mary moved to Pembroke Pines, FL in 1974, and in 2002, they relocated to Ponte Vecchio West in Boynton Beach. Al loved Ponte Vecchio, particularly his wonderful neighbors and friends and the weekly poker games. In addition to his passion for poker, Al loved family gatherings, socializing with friends, the Miami Dolphins and his Mac computer. Al's first career was in the sheet metal profession, and for several years he owned a successful sheet metal company in New York. He worked on the largest buildings in NYC, and his last project was the World Trade Center. After moving to Florida, Al changed professions and was part owner, with son Louis, of Delta Color Graphics. Al was an incredible father, devoted husband, and a wonderful grandfather, great grandfather, brother and uncle and he will be so dearly missed. He is survived by his loving children; sons Louis and John, daughter JoAnne and husband Bill, and predeceased son Al Jr. Al is also survived by grandchildren, Richard (and wife Michelle), James, Gianna (and husband Sandro), Nicholas (and wife Gabriela) and Michael as well as great granddaughters, Jessica and Jordan.
