We recently had our 50th reunion at CU Law School and it would have been wonderful to have seen her at the reunion! We were good friends in law school and clerked together at the Boulder DA's office one summer. She was a good person, and left way too soon.

Cheryl was chosen as a representative of the United States for the Bicentennial Celebration. She went to Washington where President Ford gave Cheryl a flag which she delivered to President Alfredo Stroessner in Asuncion, Paraguay. She missed the celebrations in the US, but we had the opportunity to learn so much about the US culture from her. My father's favorite dish was her tuna fish filled Roma tomatoes. I had so much fun covering the grapefruit tree with toilet paper. In the morning, the look of our neighbors, their comments, and later the process of "un-TP" the tree gave us so much enjoyment from the balcony. Her 1976 assignment gave us a lifelong friendship full of laughter and wonderful memories.

I heard of Cheryl's passing on 12/13 and I was shocked and saddened. Cheryl was not only one of my deputies at Jefferson Co. District Attorney's Office but a close friend. She helped me in so many ways when my husband passed, ways that I will never forget. Cheryl will be missed and loved always. My sadness extends to her husband, family and friends.

I have many fond memories of Cheryl. I knew her in college from the debate circuit and went to law school with her at CU and worked with her at the DA's office. She was a great talent. She was also a great person and a devoted Christian. She was full of life. I am confident she rests with her maker and that his judgment will not find her wanting.

Judge Aleman was my judge 6 years ago, when I had relapsed on alcohol and made a mess of my life. She was very fair with me, and I felt that she genuinely cared about me. I wish I could tell her today how much I appreciate how she treated me, and that I am doing well. I feel very sad, because she was a wonderful human being and the world was a better place with her in it. May God bless her and her family.

Omar, I will write more in a personal card. I want you to know that Cheryl was one of the best friends I have ever had. From that first year at Wheaton as part of "The Darling Dolls of Fifth Floor" in Fischer Drom through the years, she was one I could always count on. Your comments on how her faith blazed brightly through her fianl days was such an encouragement to me. My prayers, along with those of my prayer warriors, are with you through these hard days and the lonely ones to come. Knowing that we will spend eternity with Cheryl brings great comfort and joy! We don't understand God's timing or ways, but we don't have to. His ways are perfect.

I have been a trial attorney in this town for a quarter century, and I can echo what many have already said -- that she was a tremendous judge and a wonderful person.

Her integrity was beyond reproach: Always the professional and always compassionate. Everyone who seeks the bench can learn from her example.

I will always remember her allowing opposing counsel to go (way) past his allotted time for his motion to give him the opportunity to say everything he wanted to say in defense of his client’s position -- running into, through, and past her lunch hour. She wanted to decide everything on the merits for every party that appeared before her. You always had her full attention in court and, win or lose, you always got a good hearing from Judge Aleman.

Our legal system in this town is the poorer for her passing, but Heaven is the richer. Well Done Judge Aleman!

I worked with Judge Aleman on several different criminal prosecutions over the years when she was a State Wide Prosecutor; she was a tenacious and challenging prosecutor who was willing to travel and work with law enforcement to successfully prosecute any investigation. Judge Aleman was intellectually honest, and a compassionate colleague. She will be missed.

What bittersweet news. I was one of Professor Omar Aleman's students at Trinity International University a few years back. He and his lovely wife Cheryl invited our class to their home for dinner. I was immediately drawn to the care they had for one another, and it was apparent that the Lord is a part of their lives as individuals and as one, married, and bonded couple. What a glorious day in heaven and what a sad day for the loss on earth.

In my humble opinion, Judge Aleman possessed all of the attributes we respect in a judge: fairness, intelligence, dedication, loyalty to the law, kindness, willingness to praise, and an expectation that those who appeared before her prepare and follow the law. My client, the vicitim of a horrible car accident, was blessed to have Judge Aleman preside over her trial. And I am a better lawyer today because of Judge Aleman's high standards.... She will be sorely missed. To Judge Aleman's husband, we am so very sorry for your loss. Be comforted in the thought that your wife touched many of us in the legal community.... Thank you for sharing her with us. Warmest thoughts,

It was an honor and a privledge working as Judge Aleman's In-court Clerk. She was a woman of integrity, wisdom, and godliness. She stood for the Lord at all times, and never compromised. In the face of adversity and trials, she lived her life humbly before the Lord with praise and thanksgiving. Im so grateful God allowed me to work with her for 4 years, and witness a true woman of God who lived out her faith daily.
Though I am saddened at the pain and grief of the loved ones she has left behind, my heart rejoices because she is absent from the body and now present with the Lord....

I knew Cheryl for nine years and was always so impressed with the strength she exhibited in her faith. I was deeply touched when she and Omar sent me a book and a note while I was dealing with cancer. I only wish that I knew about her struggle in time to do the same for her. She handled everything with such dignity. I know that she is with her Lord and Savior and finally at peace. We will miss you, Cheryl.
