Donald Fordyce Obituary

Fordyce Fordyce, Donald M. 75, of Bedford, NH died peacefully at the Merrimack Valley Hospice House in Haverhill, MA on Monday, May 9, 2011 surrounded by his family. He was born on April 26, 1936 in Jackson Heights, Queens, NY, the son of the late James P. and Margaret (Monahan) Fordyce. Most recently, he had been a resident of Bedford, prior to which he had lived in Fort Lauderdale, FL and Darien, CT. Mr. Fordyce was the husband of Ann (Glascock) Fordyce. They shared 54 years of marriage. Mr. Fordyce was the Chairman and CEO of Manhattan Life Insurance Company in Manhattan, NY. Following his retirement, he worked as an executive recruiter. While living in Florida, he also held a realtor??s license. Donald was an avid golfer, runner and tennis player. He was a longtime member of the Wee Burn Country Club in Darien, CT. Donald was an active member of the Young President??s Organization. He and his wife enjoyed traveling extensively throughout the world. At one time, he was active in the Boy Scouts of America. He graduated and received his bachelor??s degree from the University of Notre Dame. In addition to his loving wife, survivors include two sons, James Fordyce of Los Angeles, CA and Michael Fordyce of Oakland, CA; a daughter Elizabeth Barrett of Hollis, NH; and eight grandchildren.
