Donald R. Payne

Donald Payne, 84. Retired bassist and composer. Don died peacefully at home in Plantation on February 25th after a long illness. Born in Texas and raised in California, he spent decades touring and in the studios of New York City, appearing on dozens of albums and hundreds of commercials. After relocating to South Florida, he became a fixture in the jazz scene, recording under his own label. He is survived by his loving family: wife Barbara, daughter Jesse, and son Cory.
