Edward VanAmburgh Obituary

VanAmburgh, Edward W., of Delray Beach, FL, formally of Albany and North Greenbush, NY passed away on Tuesday December 20th at the age of 84. He was born in Albany, NY to the late Harold and Ruth (Kerin) VanAmburgh. Ed was retired from the Plumbers and Steamfitters Local #7 Albany. He held positions on the Apprentice and By-Laws Committee, and also served on the Executive Board. He was a Minister of the Eucharist at St. Henry's Church in Averill Park, NY. His many good deeds were visiting the homebound and nursing homes. Ed was also a member of the building committee and renovation committee of the church. He was a past Grand Knight of Columbus #10990, a past Color Corps Commander of the 4th Degree Right Reverend Monsignor Arthur J. Reilly Assembly. Ed served in the United States Army during the Korean War 1951-1953. He was a member of the Korean War Veterans Association Chapter #17 of Delray Beach, FL, and a Lifetime member of American Legion Post #1021 of Averill Park, NY. He was a committeeman for the Boy Scouts of America Troop 525, and did counseling for religious emblems in parts of Rensselaer County, NY. Beloved husband of Arlene Lucchese VanAmburgh and of the late Sally Anne Cambpell VanAmburgh, father to Sam (Julie)-and proud grandfather to Zachary of Loudonville, NY; daughter Ruth Anne VanAmburgh-Biggerstaff (Mark) of Altamont, NY. Step-father to Jeff Goldstein of N.Y.C and the late Joseph Lucchese. He is survived by his brother John R (the late Nancy) and his sisters Fay (Kevin) Allen, Linda (Bill) Banker and Christine (Dan) Giovanangelo, and the late Harold G. (Phyllis) and Paul J. (Joyce) VanAmburgh. Ed was active in his Delray Villas Community by serving on the Board of Directors, and a member of the blood bank-having donated platelets every 2 weeks for the past 5 years with total donations of more than 18 gallons. He was also a C.E.R.T. team member and Captain of Platt 2. He left behind many dear friends who will miss him greatly. A memorial service will be held in Florida at a later time. In lieu of mass cards/flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital - Tribute Program, P.O. box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38148-0142. Special thanks to Dr. Scott Kalina and the staff of Hospice Homecare for the exceptional care given. We have loved you dearly husband, father, and friend. Our past loved ones now have the pleasure of your company. Arlene and family.
