John Rolland Terwilliger, Jr., 77 - born August 31, 1936 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida to John Rolland and Grace Vickery Terwilliger. Passed October 11, 2013 in Vinemont, Alabama after a long and valiant battle with multiple sclerosis. After serving 9 years in the Marine Corps in California and Japan, John settled back in Florida, continuing his civil service, retiring from the U.S. Postal Service. He and his wife, Ruth, retired to Alabama in 2008. John will be remembered by many young men and women as a mentor and coach to Deerfield Beach's Little League baseball and Raider football families in the 70s and early 80s. His 1978 HRS Electric team's undefeated season was the first in Deerfield Beach Little League history. John is survived by his wife of 55 years Ruth Virginia, son Morgan (Connie) granddaughters Angel, Kristie Ziegler (Justin & great-grandchildren Jack and Kohl) and Morgan; daughter Juliet Watter (Chuck), granddaughters Katie & Megan, (great grandson Ethan); Midori Miller, grandsons Johnnie & Robert (Crystal & future grandson Dax); son Albert, (Debbie) grandsons Matthew & Zachery; son Andrew (Julie); granddaughter Brandy Nicole Rounds-Biser as well as a number of honorary children, those same young men and women he dedicated himself to. He was predeceased by his parents, his brother Albert, his daughter Crystal Rounds and his son Jason. A Broward County memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 7th, from 3 PM to 6 PM, at First Christian Church of Pompano Beach, 1860 NE 39th Street, Pompano.
