Kristine Jones Obituary

Jones, Kristine Burley, 65, of Plantation, FL, entered into heaven on May 14, 2011. She was surrounded by her loving family at the time of her passing. Born in Port Huron, Michigan, Kristine and her family relocated to Broward County in 1952. She graduated from Stranahan High School in 1963 and received a B.S. in Education in 1967 from the University of Florida. Kris and her husband, Dr. Oliver Jones, have operated the Sunrise Animal Hospital in Sunrise since 1974, where she has served as business manager. Kris was a past member of the Plantation Junior Women's Club, Plantation Athletic League (PAL), an active school volunteer, and an active member of the Scottish American Society of South Florida. A dedicated mother and grandmother, Kris was also committed to the betterment and care of animals. She is survived by her husband, Oliver; daughters Dena of Long Beach, CA and Dr. Lura Jones, and husband Matt, of Fort Myers; mother, Frances of Plantation, FL; brother Dr. Rodman Burley, and wife Kay, of Fort Lauderdale, FL; grandsons, Cael and Renn; and 14 nephews and nieces. A memorial service celebrating the life of Kristine will be held Friday, May 20th at 1 p.m. at the Plantation United Methodist Church. Reverends Lynn Batista and Sam Wright will be presiding. I am so sorry to hear of this traggic accident. Kris was taken from us to early in life! God Bless her family and friends who miss her greatly. She leaves a big hole in our hearts and minds that can never be replaced!

October 14, 2011

Dear Ollie,
I just this minute found out about Kris. I am so sorry. Just cannot believe it. Even though we only have been together several times in the years after college, she was always near in my thoughts. Please tell her Mom, Rod, and your daughters that I send them belated condolences. She will be remembered for so many things, but especially for her acceptance and friendship when I moved across the street from her in Melrose Place in 1960. Cannot put into words my sorrow at this time.

Although I didn't know Kris' family, we were friends in high school and I always looked for her friendly face when we both attended our high school reunions. We both graduated from Stranahan in the class of '63. I grew up in Melrose Park in Ft.Lauderdale. I will miss her shining face, friendly countenance and our little reminiscences. I am very sorry for your untimely loss.

Dear Dr Jones and Family,
It is with my deepest and heartfelt sympathy that I bring to you and your family Dr Jones. You have taken care of my cats: Heather(dec'd at 15 yrs), Maisey (16 1/2 yrs old) and Jasmine (3yrs old)for the past 18 years. I very much appreciate your caring, professional and adept skills with which you have treated my cats.

During all this time I had a chance to become acquainted with Kristine, when she happened to be working in the office. She was such a pleasant, caring and personable woman. So full of energy and with a smile that would light up her face and pass that energy on to whomever she happened to be speaking to.

I was so sorry to learn of her passing too early in her life. It made me feel so sad for the rest of that day. It was unfortunate that she passed during the prime of her life. I can only sincerely give you my blessing and prayers that, when the time is right, you will be able to look back on all the joy, happiness and wonderful memories that you and your family shared. Sincerely,

Ilene Robinson

Dear Dr Jones,
I was in the office Saturday (June 11) and saw the posting of Mrs. Jones’ passing. I was surprise and deeply saddened by the news and was at a loss for words. For the last 15 years I looked forward to seeing Mrs. Jones in the office. We talked about everything. Her kind heart and warm nature were genuine. I know my Shar-Pei’s (Taboo & Taz) were out in the front to greet her at Rainbow Bridge with lots of love and kisses; they loved her too. We all miss her so very much. May your wonderful memories give you strength and help ease your pain. God bless you and your family. ~ The Kuhns Family

Dear Dr. Jones and the Staff of Sunrise Animal Hospital,
Our deepest condolences on the passing of Mrs. Jones. Our encounters with her were few, however we always found her to be very friendly and we know she will be very sorely missed.

May 26, 2011

Dear Dr. Jones,
It is hard to find the words to express how shocked and saddened we were to hear of Kris' sudden and untimely death. We will always remember the genuine interest, concern, kindness and enthusiasm she always showed for people and their pets and she will be greatly missed. We can only hope that, after passing on, Kris was greeted by all the people and pets she ever loved and by every creature to whom she showed kindness and that the entire retinue escorted her over the Rainbow Bridge and into heaven.

Our love and prayers are with you. Aunt Kris always had a smile on her face, kind words, and a joyous laugh. I have such great memories of listening to her tell me stories about the past. Her memory will live on, with all that knew her. I thank her for so many wonderful memories and for her continuous support. God Bless you all.

It is usually the small things that will make us remember a person most. The image I will keep of Mrs. Jones is of her walking into work with an iced tea always in hand. As plain and simple as it may be, it is a personal remembrance that makes me smile.

Dr. Jones, Lura, and Dena: words will never be enough, memories are now your life line, and my heart is heavy for you. I’m here if you need me.

Love, Heather

Dear Oliver,
It has been many, many years since we last met, and yet I feel as if it was yesterday. Our families grew up together, we were good friends. The Jones's and the Annis's - what a crowd.
I remember you now with a full heart. The ties that bind are still there and we send to you our collective love. Words escape me - for you, my heart is broken.

May 20, 2011

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

I WAS SADDENED TO LEARN OF KRIS' PASSING.
SHE WAS ONE OF THE FIRST FRIENDS I MET WHEN MY FAMILY AND I MOVED TO FT LAUDERDALE IN 1953. WE WERE BOTH IN 2ND GRADE. KRIS AND I SPENT MANY FUN DAYS IN OUR MELROSE PARK NEIGHBORHOOD, MELROSE PARK METHODIST CHURCH, AND DURING OUR SCHOOL YEARS. WE SHARED NOVEMBER BIRTHDAYS - EVERY NOVEMBER 21ST I WOULD THINK ABOUT HER AND I WILL CONTINUE TO DO SO. I RAN INTO HER SEVERAL TIMES IN THE PAST ALMOST 50 YEARS SINCE HIGH SCHOOL AND SHE ALWAYS WAS THE SAME.
MY MOTHER, JEAN BESSENT, AND I EXTEND OUR SINCERE SYMPATHY TO YOUR FAMILY AND YOU ALL WILL BE IN OUR PRAYERS FOR GOD'S PEACE AND COMFORT AT THIS DIFFICULT TIME.
